Noticing this Border hen sitting for periods of time on the floor, I knew a floor fight was imminent!

She actually built her nest under the wire that was hanging her proposed nest.

Lifting out the nest, I found a nice nest structure but I was not going to let it be built directly on the floor because when the hen turns the eggs, invariably some are rolled out from under her and lost!

Today she laid her second egg in the nest which I lured her into by moving slightly to the corner and setting it directly on the floor! Most nesting hens will chose a more private option even it is only slightly more private as in this case just a couple of inches nest move to the corner was enough to seal the deal!
