Chirpy Chum Anna Sinclair told me about a pigeon product from Africa sold by Foy's. It is for respiratory problems and is called Mycoban. Anyone have experience using this?

My bird has respiratory problems, green diarrhea, and is blowing bubbles.
Answer: Birds with respiratory problems sometimes start out with air sac mites and then have secondary infections with a number of infectious agents. The green diarrhea means it is starving. Blowing bubbles is a sign of trichomoniasis (parasite).

Mycoban is combination of 2 antibiotics.This was formulated by Dr Okert Botha who specializes in Pigeon and cage bird products.It ia an AVIOMED PRODUCT.HE HAS A VERY GOOD RANGE OF PRODUCTS AND HE WILL ALWAYS ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.NORMALLY IN PIGEONS WHEN THE BIRDS HAVE SLIME IN THEIR THROATS OR BLOW BUBBLES THEN IT IS MYCOPLASMA.SOME TIMES IT GOES HAND IN HAND WITH TRICHOMONIASIS.

Trichomoniasis (Crop Canker)
Cause:
Trichomoniasis is caused by a protozoan called Trichomonas gallinae.
Symptoms:
Trichomoniasis is the most common infection found in pigeons. Although it will seldom cause clinical disease of crop and throat inflammation, with the typical yellow accumulation, it has a devastating effect on the racing results of pigeons. It will often also predispose pigeons to other diseases and cause bad growth in babies. In severe cases and especially when pigeons immune systems are down it may cause systemic infections in the navel or even in the liver.

Diagnosis:
A crop smear is examined under the microscope and the typical one cellular organism is seen moving around with its anterior flagella.
Treatment:
Racing pigeons, breeding pigeons and babies should be treated preventatively every few weeks according to a good routine program or when diagnosed by cropsmear.
Dimetridazole, Ronidazole, Metronidazole and Secnidazole may be used for routine preventative treatment. It is important to alternate products to prevent resistance. Resistant strains must be treated with Dimetridazole high dose treatments combined with antitoxins or with Secnidazole and Ronidazole combinations.

There are two types of Canker: the dry form where cheesy deposits occur in the mouth or throat and happens in nestlings at about 8 -10 days of age and the second form is called the wet form and occurs in juveniles and adults who have open mouth breathing, wet moist wheezing, bubbling etc.
It is more common in colorbred due to their origin.
