Mite Infestation Survivor?
After forcing this Stafford chick's mouth open with one hand and locking my thumb to keep its mouth open, I force fed some ABBA Green 92 dissolved in hot water both yesterday and today, finally around 4 pm it finally started begging and its parents started feeding it again!
So I am hopeful that just maybe it will be a Survivor!!
The pest strips are really doing a good job at eliminating the mites. I decided to wait to do the flock treatment with ivermectin till I can do all of the birds at once.
Received a comment that "pest strips don't work." Let me hear from you. Do pest strips work to get rid of mites?

I have used pest strip before and they did nothing there were still mites. explain the purpose.
My aviary is a several feet larger than a two car garage. I have closed the windows and not opening it up or running the exhaust fan during this episode. I placed three no pest strips around the room. I ran a test last year when I was fighting the weevils and three was fine and four was starting to be too much.
Did you use the type of pest strip pictured?

Hi Linda,
I don't really know if strips work or not, but you will be able to tell us based on your experience with these. Hopefully they WILL eliminate the mite.
You are fortunate in one way that your mites were/are Northern and not red. The red mites are much more difficult to eradicate.
The only concern I would have with the "pest strips" is that the birds are inhaling the vapours.
One question, what mite preventative had you been using...I was a bit suprised to read that you had to rush away in your car for mite fighting equipment! I'm probably paronoid about mites but always have a range of products to hand, in the event that I have an outbreak. My favourites...PY powder (manufactured for the garden) FRONTLINE...Johnson's anti mite powder..Johnson's antimite aerosol.
How close to (or far away from) the cages, do you hang the No Pest Strips ?
I never tried pest strip before, but I don't think it will help much.
Sevin 5 is good but not the best to solve this problem. I have tried many products and my best choice is Avian Insect Liquidator from Vetafarm. It works very well!

I think all advice is excepting but trust me I have dealt with this before and as I have written before try Iverlux or S76. I have had great sucess with Iverlux you just cannot use it when your birds are set up, thats why I used it 3 weeks before the breeding season. I know that S76 can be used during the breeding season I just do not feel comfortable using it than.

I have administered S76 in water to hen on eggs and to hen feeding chicks. No issues so far, chick are 2 month old now.

I do not know about the pest strips on today's market, however, years ago, they were toxic to my birds. I had an unusually large number of Yorkshire hens going blind. The pest strips hung a few feet from their flight. I removed the pest strips, new blindness stopped in my birds. I fog my room with a plant duster and sevin dust, as I know it is safe. It's messy, but works. Also, you can use liquid sevin, dip perch ends, spray baseboards etc.

Please be careful with this product. Read this answer from hotshotteam

These strips are designed for use in unoccupied areas or areas occupied by people or pets less than four hours per day (like attics, garages, etc.). If the room you're treating is totally enclosed and unoccupied, it's most likely ok, but you might want to choose one of our other products if you're uncertain. We would be happy to help if you let us know what you're trying to control.

Any sore on the foot can be treated with iodine. Just dip the foot in it daily to promote healing.
At time, you may see foot problems due to diet, too much protein causing favoring and redness treated by pushing carbs and dropping proteins (esp egg). Or sometimes it is serious canary pox.
